Part 16: Virgin Gorda, Malone Bay, and Leverick Bay

Friday, 25 February 2011 (continued)

We left The Baths and took a scenic taxi drive across Virgin Gorda. On our way through Spanish Town, we passed an elementary school, and our driver stopped in the middle of the road to give money to his grandkids.

The remainder of the ride took us to Little Dix Bay, where we got to checkout an expensive resort, along beautiful Savannah Bay and Pond Bay, way up into Gorda Peak National Park, where we had beautiful views of Dog Bay and North Sound, as well as the rest of the British Virgin Islands, and finally down into Leverick Bay.

When we arrived in Leverick Bay, we walked down to Leverick Bay Marina, where Kristian was waiting to dinghy us over to Breanker in Malone Bay - our home for the night. We had another happy hour and a wonderful seafood dinner on the boat.

After our dinner, we dinghied ashore to Leverick Bay to watch the Jumbies perform. Jumbies are stilt-dancers who are dressed in very colorful outfits and dance to local music. It was a fun evening, and the beers flowed a bit too much for me, but everyone made it safely back to the boat for a good night's rest.
