A plan making a landing over Maho Beach, St. Maarten, July 2008.
About Maho Beach, St. Maarten
Maho Beach is located at the end of the Princess Juliana International Airport runway, on the southwest side of St. Maarten. Not only is it a beautiful beach, but it is a great spot to get extremely close to giant jets as they come in for a landing, or get jet-blasted as they take off.
A sign along the beach reads “DANGER – Jet blast of departing and arriving aircraft can cause severe physical harm resulting in extreme bodily harm and/or death.” Now this is our kind of place. Although it is dangerous, and people have been injured in the past, there is still nothing as entertaining as sitting at the nearby bar with an ice-cold Carib watching tourists get sandblasted onto the beach. You can’t do that in the United States.

Food and Drinks on Maho Beach, St. Maarten
One of the best spots to watch the airplanes come in over Maho Beach is Sunset Beach Bar. This bar is located directly on the water, just a few yards south of the runway, making it the perfect vantage point for all of the action. Read more about Sunset Beach Bar…
