Sugar Beach, Sapphire Beach, New Friends – St. Thomas 2015

First stop – Sugar Beach!

Saturday, January 24th, 2015 – Day 26 of 36 Weekends and days off are beach days for us. We had to wait a while this morning for the rain to die down before we could venture off to the beach. Finally, the skies cleared up and we drove next door to Sugar Beach.

The parking lot is far from the beach, so the Dreams resort shuttles people to and from. This time we got an open-air safari taxi. I think this was actually the girls’ first time on one. The shuttle dropped us off at the pool area. We walked through the pool and then found a spot down on the beach. After a short while we decided to head over to Sapphire Beach instead so we packed up our stuff and made the short drive to Sapphire.

Meeting new friends at Sapphire Beach

Sapphire Beach was a great choice for the day. The water was nicer, and there were even fewer clouds. We had a great time building a huge Frozen castle. Yes, there are no longer just “sandcastles” or “snowmen”. Ever since the movie “Frozen” came out, they are now “Frozen castles” and “Olafs.”

While we were playing in the sand, we noticed another little girl, a little older than Bug, playing nearby. We invited her over (with her dad’s permission of course), and gave her a toy mermaid so she could play with the girls. They hit it off right away and had an absolute blast! I took them out in the water to float around and Tiff talked to the dad for a while. They were from Nova Scotia and were staying down here for 5 or 6 months on their sailboat. We all ended up talking and playing until the sun went down. We exchanged phone numbers and decided we would try to meet up again tomorrow at Coki Beach so the girls could play together again.

Good night Sapphire!

Back at the condo, I made some more burgers for Tiff and I and some macaroni for the girls for our dinner. After dinner, the girls played with their toys for a bit and then we all called it a night. It’s tough work sitting on a beach all day!
