San Juan, Puerto Rico - Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Day 9 of our Eastern Caribbean Carnival Cruise Vacation 2009

Today we woke up back at San Juan, Puerto Rico. We had breakfast with our friends and got everything ready to get off the ship. It was sad to see everyone go. We said goodbye to Jeff & Annie and Wendy & Kevin, and headed back to the Condado Hotel where we were supposed to meet up with Wendy & Kevin for a few more hours at the beach. They didn't show and we weren't able to get a hold of them so we decided to head to the airport.

Eventually we met up with Wendy & Kevin again, and had some beers at the bar & grill in the airport. Their flight left before ours...and then it was just me and Tiff. The flight back to the U.S. is nothing exciting...almost depressing actually. Back to the frozen winter "wonderland" that is Illinois. On top of that, our flights were late and we didn't get home until very late...the pressure was messed up on one leg of the flights so my ears were really bothering me.

We got home, went to bed, and prepared for the start of a long work week....That ends our 2009 Eastern Caribbean Carnival Cruise Vacation. See you next time.

Day 2 of our Eastern Caribbean Carnival Cruise Vacation 2009

Well, the next morning we slept until about 11AM. After a while, we spotted Kevin & Wendy (they were in line checking out), so we decided to also check out and then we had some more cheeseburgers back down at the Aqua Bar & Grill. At that point we all decided we'd better get a cab and head for the cruise ship, which was docked about 5 miles away in the Bay of San Juan on San Juan Island.

Day 1 of our Eastern Caribbean Carnival Cruise Vacation 2009

We flew from Chicago O'Hare Airport to San Juan's Luis Munoz Marin International Airport and grabbed a cab to the Condado Plaza Hotel & Casino on Ashford Ave (the Condado Strip) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The hotel was very nice and was decorated in a very modern style. There were several pools, a hot tub, water slide, swim up bar (the Aqua Bar & Grill), public beach access on a beautiful protected bay (Condado Lagoon / Laguna del Condado), a great view of the skyline, and an area of Atlantic Ocean shoreline with beautiful cliffs and crashing waves.
